Stream Bio Ltd
Project | Quantitative point-of-care (10 min) diagnostic test for cardiac troponin I and troponin T for high priority use cases. |
---|---|
Description |
Stream is redefining the sensitivity of lateral flow assays by replacing the traditional labels normally used, with ultra-bright (sensitive), fluorescent Conjugated Polymer Nanoparticles (CPNs), and by adopting a different approach in the development of a point-of-care reader. Stream is redefining lateral flow assays by significantly enhancing the key technologies involved. By replacing the traditional labels normally used in lateral flow (ie gold nanoparticles or europium chelates) with intensely fluorescent and sensitive fluorescent Conjugated Polymer Nanoparticles (CPNs), and by adopting a different approach in the development of a reader, Stream aims to deliver lab sensitivity in a point-of-care test for troponin. CPNs are functionalised nanoparticles with extremely high extinction coefficients and are therefore incredibly sensitive in low level detection. To further enhance capability, rather than using fluorescent intensity to quantify detection as other readers do, Streams reader is based on a handheld fluorometer that captures images of the particles and then quantification is determined by an algorithm.
