Project | The Community Pharmacy Assessment for Barrett’s Oesophagus and Reflux Symptoms (Project COMPASS) |
---|---|
Description |
Oesophageal adenocarcinoma (OAC) has one of the worst prognoses in the UK, with most people diagnosed too late for treatment to be effective. The EndoSign ® capsule sponge test offers a fast and simple way to detect and monitor Barrett’s oesophagus, a precursor to OAC. Through Project COMPASS, Cyted Health is offering capsule sponge testing in pharmacies across the East Midlands and North Central London. The project will identify at-risk individuals by tracking reflux medication purchases and reaching underserved communities in the two regions. |

Project | SEARCH: Implementing and evaluating screening for Hodgkin lymphoma survivors within the NHS Lung Cancer Screening Programme |
---|---|
Description |
The University of Manchester and NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre. Using population level data to model lung cancer risk in Hodgkin lymphoma survivors, researchers at The NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre, The University of Manchester and University of Oxford developed extended criteria and a modified risk calculator to identify Hodgkin lymphoma survivors at increased risk of developing lung cancer as a late complication of previous cancer treatment. The SEARCH project funded by SBRI Healthcare will implement and evaluate this technology for identification and screening of high risk Hodgkin lymphoma survivors within the NHS Lung Cancer Screening Programme. Results will generate evidence to support routine adoption. |

Project | Accelerating Lung Cancer Diagnosis Through AI-Guided Robotic Navigation Bronchoscopy |
---|---|
Description |
Optellum’s Virtual Nodule Clinic uses machine learning trained on thousands of CT scans to assign malignancy risk scores to indeterminate lung nodules, supporting earlier, more confident clinical decisions. Intuitive’s ION system is a robotic-assisted bronchoscopy platform with ultra-thin, shape-sensing technology that enables precise, minimally invasive access to nodules as small as 6mm. Used together, these technologies offer a powerful integration of artificial intelligence and robotics to enhance lung cancer diagnostics, particularly in the context of rising detection rates from national screening. |
