Project Smart Digital inhaler enabled asthma management in high-risk children aged 5 to 16 years managed in primary care to prevent asthma attacks
Description

Children with asthma often have flare-ups that require hospitalisation. This project will use Hailie® digital inhalers that alert the child and display usage on the family’s smartphone. Via the web, the medical team can monitor and support families and their child’s medication; with the aim to reduce these asthma attacks.

Project Making Young People’s Asthma Self-management Smarter (MYPASS)
Description

The Digital Health Passport is an asthma self-management app co-designed with young people and NHS specialists; aligned to clinical guidelines (NICE, BTS/SIGN, GINA) to improve asthma control. MYPASS will measure the impact of the platform on asthma attacks, unscheduled care and steroid use and evaluate three user engagement strategies (Nurse-led, Social Media and NHS Comms).

MYPASS will deliver:
Smarter asthma plans with signposting from symptom trackers.
Improved medication adherence - repeat prescriptions, medication reminders, inhaler videos.
Trigger avoidance - air quality alerts, allergy education.
Knowledge - seven core modules with regular reinforcement.
Improved patient activation - skills, knowledge and confidence to self-manage.

Project Digital Health Passport for Epilepsy: Smarter Accessible Epilepsy Support for Children, Young People and Carers
Description

The Digital Health Passport, from Tiny Medical Apps makes managing long-term conditions easier, smarter and more effective. It has been co-designed with young people, carers and clinical specialists. Now implemented in ten NHS ICS regions the technology is demonstrating improved asthma outcomes and expanding out to cover epilepsy, sickle cell disease and other long-term conditions that start in childhood. The Digital Health Passport can authenticate patients with NHS login and provide access to NHS APIs such as medication reordering, GP summary record view and on-line appointment booking. The Digital Health Passport is broadening its reach to support more young people with long-term conditions and improve accessibility for young people with mild to moderate learning difficulties. The project brings the together Tiny Medical Apps, the Young Epilepsy Charity and the Caribbean and African Health Network to develop ground breaking technology for people with epilepsy.
