DDM Health Limited

Project Supporting women with long-term and chronic health conditions with an adaptive, personalised digital health tool to self-manage and improve health outcomes ("GroW")
Description

Gro Health is a multi-award-winning NICE-accredited digital health platform that supports individuals managing chronic conditions, including obesity and Type 2 diabetes. The platform provides personalised health pathways, data-driven insights, behavioral change tools and AI-driven engagement to enhance patient outcomes. The "GroW" project focuses on co-developing solutions with women living in social housing, a group considered hard to reach despite the greatest need for intervention. ScreenIn3D Limited

Project An organ-on-a-chip platform to model personalised embryo implantation and improve subfertility associated with chronic gynaecological disease
Description

Our technology uses engineering approaches to create cell-based models of human organs and disease, mimicking different aspects of human organ function. Using this approach, we have developed a technological platform to make testing of drug treatments more relevant to the individual. We can apply the technology to different human diseases, with a current focus on oncology, immune-oncology and women’s health, particularly in the areas of embryo implantation, and precision fertility. Overall, our technology offers technological solutions for producing better drugs, reduce reliance on animal models and accelerate the development of personalised treatments.

Peripear Ltd

Project The Peripear Medical Device: An innovative, low-cost solution to reduce perineal injury during vaginal childbirth
Description

The first iteration provides controlled warmth to the perineum, to enhance tissue elasticity, minimize trauma, and improve overall birthing outcomes including pain. Subsequent iterations will contain sensors for biomarkers with diagnostic potential. The use of warm compresses during the second stage of labor has shown efficacy in reducing tearing. Recent systematic reviews show reductions of up to 50% in pain, severity of trauma and episiotomy.

Our evidence shows that the method is not optimised due to inconsistent application, limiting mobility for the woman, scalding risks, and the need to be held in place manually. Lack of standardisation means that this effective practice has not been included in international guidelines (e.g. OASI-care bundle).

There are no non-invasive, evidence-based devices currently available. We are here to change that.
